How to become a nail technician in Illinois
A career as a nail technician in Illinois is a good idea for those with a passion for making others look good. You will also need to be a good communicator and have pleasing manners to excel in this occupation. The occupation is regulated by the Illinois Division of Professional Regulation which requires that nail technicians should obtain a license to operate in the state. To apply for a license you need to fulfill the following requirements:
1. Be at least sixteen years of age. Those without this should take an Ability to Benefit test.
2. Have a minimum 8th grade education.
3. Completed 350 hours of approved nail technician training.
An applicant holding a valid license from another state is eligible to obtain a license without taking the examination provided the requirements of state issuing the license at the time of its issue are substantially similar to those of Illinois.
The license falls for renewal on October 31 of even years. For renewal the applicant should have completed ten hours of continuing education per renewal period.
