The Kentucky State Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists is the agency in charge of issuing license to all workers offering beauty services in the state. To apply for a nail technician license in Kentucky, the applicant has to be at least 16 years of age and should have completed two years of high school or its equivalent. They should also have completed a training program in nail technology of at least 600 hours from an approved nail technician school in KY. The licensing examination assesses the candidates’ theoretical and practical knowledge. Reciprocity arrangements do exist with several states that have similar requirements for nail technicians.
